LAVAN OFFSHORE
is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf. It has an area of 76 km². The island has one of the four major terminals for export of crude oil in Iran
Island is located some 18 km south of Bandar Mogham in Persian Gulf (Lavan is the operating base for three offshore fields, namely, Salman, Resalat and Reshadat and has infrastructure facilities including process plants , storage and export system, utility and maintenance facilities, storehouse and loading jetty for support of offshore fields as well as the residential and social areas. Local airport handles personnel movements.

Produced oil from offshore fields is transferred to Lavan for final processing. Salman field 144 km south of Lavan Island , has one of the largest offshore complexes in the Persian Gulf.
APPROACH/ANCHORAGE :
Vessels should approach from the south, which is open and free of dangers. The approved anchorage area is to the east of the oil loading dock at 53 22’ E. Pilot age is compulsory and harbor pilot should be contacted on VHF channel 16 about six hours before arrival at Lavan Island.

LOADING AT SBM
 
 
There is no restriction for tanker up to 300,000 mts DWT.
Draft ; around 40 meters
No navigation at night
Oily Discharging form the tankers are not allowed and Pipe Lines and clean Ballast must be ensured
Minimum 7 Terminal Staff should be accommodate on board during securing the tanker to SBM
Tankers calling Lavan SBM must be equipped with following equipment:
 
  • Operational inert Gas System.
  • Operational ODME(Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment)
  • Approved type of bow fitting for SBM mooring
  • Crane or derrick on each side of mid-ship with minimum SWL of 10 Tons for handling cargo hoses.
  • Accommodation ladders in good condition on both sides.
  • 2 x 16-inch cargo manifolds on each side (Port and Starboard)
  •  Two smith brackets on forecastle head one on each side (port and starboard).
EDP AT LAVAN ISLAND
 Early Departure procedure (EDP) is available at both the jetty and Lavan SBM. Vessels not sailing on EDP basis must wait for 2-3 hours after completion of loading to collect cargo documents.
