Electronic Database on Financial Regulations Launched in PSO The Ports and Shipping Organization electronic database containing general and internal financial regulations was launches with the aim of providing easy and timely access of users to the current laws, regulations, resolutions and procedures, reducing costs and increasing the precision of the system. Jabber Jalilian, Director General of Financial Affairs added: “A significant portion of the information gathered and processed by this directorate general is hosted and available on the system. Moreover, in line with PSO’s objectives regarding clients’ respect and as a result of the efforts of this directorate, contractors and users from outside the Organization are now able to receive their relevant financial information by communicating through This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it designated for this purpose, which would save a lot of time and energy on their part.” Jalilian pointed to the availability of the information related to the replies to the vessels inquiries and the complementary information on the PSO website and said: “In order to save time, eliminate the need for users to come to the PSO and facilitate access to the information, this information is hosted and accessible on the PSO website (www.pso.ir). Through the previous procedure, receiving the replies would take about a month.” Mentioning the innovation of that directorate general in designing the financial program for the employees, he added: “All employees are able to have access to their financial information, including salary invoices for the past and present months and the relevant charts, which would in turn eliminate problems like losing paper invoices, wasting of time and other people’s access to their private information. The monthly salary invoices are currently forwarded to the employees through their emails.”

To Develop & Expand Iran-Libya Maritime ActivitiesBilateral Commercial Shipping Agreement Finalized The commercial shipping agreement between Iran and Libya was finalized and signed by the Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development and the Libyan Minister of Planning, in an attempt to expand and strengthen the cooperation between the two countries on shipping development, ship building and repairs, oil spill prevention and response and maritime search and rescue in accordance with the requirements of the international conventions and standards.  According to the Public Relations Office of the PSO, the Director General of Transit and Tariffs added: “The Parties agreed to eliminate the obstacles for shipping development and highlighted free access of ships to the ports and territorial waters of each other, as well as provision of the required assistance and support to the vessels involved in incidents near their coasts. By establishing a joint technical committee on maritime affairs, the Parties also endorsed the documents and identifications of the crew of each other’s vessels.” The joint technical committee on maritime affairs, according to the above report, was established with the aim of facilitating the implementation of the provisions of the agreement, holding consultation meetings

To strengthen ports and maritime relations and co-operation between I.R. Iran and UAEUpon the invitation of the national transport authority of the United Arab Emirates, a delegation from the ports and shipping organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Mr. Mohammad Rastad managing director of Bushehr province  ports and shipping Authority met the national transport authority of the United Arab Emirates led by Mr. Salem Ali Al Zaabi  assistant undersecretary land and marine affairs  at the National Transport Authority headquarter in Abu dhabi on 13 November 2007 in order to participate at a joint meeting to deal with the matters of mutual interest and benefit in ports and maritime fields.During the course of the joint meeting, both sides while putting emphasis on the high potentials and capacities of the two countries in ports and maritime affairs , expressed hope and interest to make effective efforts to strengthen and develop the ports and maritime relations and co-operation between I.R. Iran and UAE.Both sides after conducting fruitful negotiations on ports and maritime areas and their related fields, agreed as follows:1-      Joint Co-operation for Preventing and Combating Pollution from Ships; 2-     Maritime Search And Rescue;3-     Considering the importance of the ISPS code implementation, the Iranian side suggested co-operation for the purpose of exchange of the data with regard to the “ISPS code related deficiencies” of the both sides flagged vessels, by the “Port Facility Security Officers” to the “ISPS National Focal Points” of I.R.Iran and the UAE.4-     Establishment of the “ISPS code Joint Committee; and… .The Iranian side invited the UAE members of the joint committee for the second meeting which will be held next year in I.R.Iran.
